The www.tipperaryraces.ie (C & G) Maiden produced a good result for trainer John Murphy and owners the Hewins Hoare Partnership as they enjoyed a one-two. Space Age (4/1) was always going well under Ben Coen and, having sat second, led travelling well inside the final quarter-mile before being ridden out to win by three and a half lengths from Helter Skelter who made late headway to grab second on his debut.

The winner, who only cost 2,5000 Euros as a yearling, had been narrowly beaten at the Curragh on Guineas weekend.

Assistant trainer George Murphy said: “He’d a good run at the Curragh his run before last. The next day then a few of ours were running a bit flat around that time so we freshened him up.

“That was a good performance and he’s done it well. He’s a nice horse.”
