Heavily-backed Galileo Dame (morning 3/1, returned 13/8) was the impressive winner of Leopardstown's opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden today, quickening well to score for trainer Joseph O'Brien and jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle.

The Galileo Gold-filly had finished second on her sole run as a juvenile and, reappearing today, again raced on heavy ground when quickening smartly to beat Rubies Are Red — a sister to Prix de l'Arc winner Found, by 3.5 lengths.

Winning trainer O'Brien said “she had a good run in soft ground last year and we thought that ten furlongs would suit her well. I was very pleased and looking at that you'd have to say she's a smart filly.

“I suppose the obvious thing now is to go into an Oaks trial of some sort. That's probably where she'll go.

“She's owned by a great group of lads, the Annus Mirabilis Synidcate, Sean O'Driscoll and Brian McKieran and it's exciting for them to have a real smart filly.”
