TREMALLT MAKING HEADWAY

Hopes rose today that Tremallt will be fit to run at Cheltenham next week.

Tom George's promising chaser is being aimed at the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup on the first day of the Festival.

He suffered slight stone bruising while being prepared for last month's Racing Post Chase, which also put his Cheltenham run in doubt.

But George revealed this morning: "We are making a bit of headway with him. We'll take him to work somewhere on Friday and if he works like I think he should then he'll be OK for Cheltenham."

Leading Irish amateur Tony Martin was due to partner Tremallt but George added: "I had originally booked Tony Martin to ride but when the horse became doubtful I thought it was only fair to warn Tony. In the meantime he's been offered other rides in the race.

"But he was keen on riding Tremallt and I'll be talking to him later."
