Runner-up in a bumper and maiden hurdle, Time Marches On got off the mark on his fourth start over fences in the Qifa Financial Planners Rated Novice Steeplechase.

A second winner on the card for Scorpion, the Robcour-owned winner was sent off 5/1 having been available at 12/1 overnight.

Produced to lead three out, the seven-year-old blundered at the last but was picked up by Keith Donoghue to beat Clever Currency by two lengths.

Winning trainer James Motherway was absent as the winning rider explained: "James has gone to the point-to-point in Tinahely and rang me on the way down and said there were a couple of excuses for his last few runs. He thought he'd go close, said he'd take beating so was spot on.

"He was lazy and was probably just doing enough although he had form over further so was always likely to stay going.

"I got the ride through my agent Garry Cribbin and it's my first time riding for James."
