Cheltenham veterans at Gowran
There are two Cheltenham veterans, Newmill and Whyso Mayo, in action at Gowran Park tomorrow, with both teenagers bidding to roll back the clock five years.
Both horses were successful at the 2006 Cheltenham Festival, with Newmill proving successful in the Champion Chase and Whyso Mayo winning the Foxhunters' Chase.
Five years on, Newmill is now 13 years old and in training with James Dullea while Whyso Mayo continues to defy his 14 years, winning his two most recent starts, in a Thurles hunters chase and at Bandon point to point last weekend.
Newmill bids to defy top weight in the Shamrock Handicap Chase tomorrow while Whyso Mayo tackles the P2p Weekly in Racing Post Hunters Chase, where he opposes 'sprightly' 11 year old chaser Preists Leap.
