The Grade B BARONERACING.COM Porterstown Handicap Chase is just a small part of what promises to be a fantastic weekend of racing at Fairyhouse. For those that like their staying chasers though, this marathon is one of the highlights of the programme.

When it comes to an extreme test of stamina one that has already proven his worth is John Ryan’s Dromore Lad.

On only his fourth start for the County Tipperary handler the Flemensfirth gelding landed the Grade B Paddy Power Cork Grand National Handicap Chase at the start of November, over three and a half miles.

“He’s in savage form and I think he has a huge chance. He’s one of those horses that comes alive at three miles,” said Ryan on the chestnut, a three time hurdling winner at Fairyhouse.

“He’s come out of the Cork National brilliant and goes to Fairyhouse with a great chance.”

Meanwhile Tom Mullins has three in the mix for the three mile five furlong heat, with Chavi Artist, Court Maid and Scoir Mear all holding entries.

“I’ve left the three of them in it as they are all in such great form. Court Maid has a few other options as well,” explained the Doninga handler.

“Scoir Mear came out of the Troytown well and he was up against a handicap good-thing in that. He’s so well that I said I wouldn’t wait until Christmas.”
