Some match races produce good finishes but the BetVictor Irish EBF Novice Chase certainly wasn’t one of them as 1/3 favourite Busselton dismissed sole rival Coach Carter (9/4) with the minimum of fuss.

JJ Slevin made all on Joseph O’Brien’s charge and it was ‘bar a fall’ from the turn into the straight with 42 lengths the winning margin.

Morning favourite Bleu Berry was an absentee due to a temperature.

It was second win in four starts over fences for the Mastercraftsman gelding.

Slevin said: "He was having a look around in front but it was a good performance and he jumped well on the whole. He was a bit slow at one but other than that was good.

"I wanted a good honest test as he is a stayer and he was getting the four-year-old's 10lbs allowance.

"He is a likeable horse who could be suited by a strongly run 2m2f."
