James Hannon came in for a winning spare ride on board Macs Legend in the hunters chase at Downpatrick.

Gerard Kelleher 's 10-year-old gelding was a decisive winner by six and a half lengths at 7/1 from 10/1 to reward the long trek up from Co Cork. B C's Pride ran well for a 40/1 chance to come home second with Spud's Trouble three parts of a length further back in third at 33/1.

James Hannon said: "That's my fifth winner on the track but I'm having a great year at the point-to-points.

"It was unfortunate for John Barry, I think he got stuck in traffic or something but his loss my gain.

"Gerard (Kelleher) just said drop in and basically ride him like the best horse in the race. He came there very easy. He was expecting a big run."
