Henry de Bromhead reports Honeysuckle in fine form ahead of the PCI Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown next Saturday.

The star mare is ante-post favourite for the two-mile prize as she bids to defend her unbeaten record.

She is also prominent in the betting for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham but de Bromhead insists that connections aren't thinking beyond next weekend's test.

“Honeysuckle is in good form, she's really well, and I'm delighted with her at the moment,” said the Waterford-based handler.

“I'm apprehensive before I run her in anything but I'm looking forward to it.”

When asked if her performance there would shape plans for the rest of the season he answered:-

“We'll see how we get on and then we'll digest all that. We'll try and get to next Saturday first and see from there.”

Leopardstown have been watering the course ahead of the meeting and when asked if he would be concerned about ground for any of his horses next weekend he added:-

“You'd have to be worried about ground as it seems to be changing. We'll keep an eye on all of that and see.”
