After his early fall at Listowel on Sunday Peregrine Run heads the weights for the Grade A Guinness Kerry National Handicap Chase, highlight of the week at the Harvest Festival on Wednesday.

Last year’s runner-up, Ravenhill, is back in an attempt to go one better, whilst Willie Mullins has three in the mix.

Mullins’ son Patrick said: “Robin Des Foret is incredibly consistent — he has a great strike rate.

“You’d probably think that the handicapper just has him now.

“He seems to arrive travelling there at the second last, but the weight seems to tell in the last furlong or so.

“Cabaret Queen is a strong candidate. She ran very well in the Galway Plate and she’s obviously a Munster National winner.

“She’s in great form and with ten stone nine she’s at the right end of the weights.

“When you see our horses getting in around the middle range of ten stone they have to be taken seriously.

“Blazer was second in a Galway Hurdle to Sharjah not too long ago, over two miles, and we’ve fancied him numerous days and he’s a little bit frustrating to be honest.

“You’d like to think that he could win this race off that weight, but he just seems to have disappointed us on certain occasions. The day he puts it all together he has a big one in him.

“I think it’s a race that’ll suit Cabaret Queen, a race where you get out on the front end, jumping and rhythm is at a premium.

“There’s a lot of jumping, a lot of turning, and a flat track, I think that’ll all suit her.”

Doctor Duffy for Charles Byrnes and Kevin Brouder is currently at the head of the market.
