Young Dev justified strong 11/10 favouritism to win the Mr Binman Handicap Chase at Limerick today, scoring for trainer Denis Hogan and amateur jockey Damien Skehan.

The five year old son of Fracas landed a gamble to win a handicap hurdle at the venue in November for jockey Skehan, who doubles as Hogan's assistant, and today made a winning handicap chase debut when holding the challenge of runner-up The Ballyboys by half a length.

Afterwards trainer Hogan stated “it wasn't the right trip for him but he had to go on and it wasn't ideal for him but he got the job done well.

“There is a chance he could run again here in a Rated Novice on Sunday over 2m6f.

“He jumped well for his first handicap and we'll see how he is tomorrow but he could come back later in the week.”
