FormscanBy Mark Nunan - CLODY VALLEY has been knocking on the door and Liz Doyle’s charge can make the breakthrough on his fifth start over fences. He failed to get up by just a short head over this trip at Downpatrick and showed he handles soft ground when filling the same position behind a gambled-on winner at Killarney. He’s up 5lb in total for those two good efforts and that shouldn’t stop him if he’s in the same form. The lightly-weighted Go Battle was well-beaten over hurdles at Clonmel but her last two runs over fences, including when runner-up at Ballinrobe, were creditable and she seems to be better over the larger obstacles. Trans Wood is a fairly modest performer over hurdles but gave an encouraging display in her first handicap chase when third to Buttons And Bows at Wexford. A reproduction of that run would see her involved in the finish although the headgear she wore then has been removed.
