FormscanBy Mark Nunan - A half-brother to four winners, HAZARD cost 55,000 pounds as a yearling and, after blowing the start, showed ability when running on for fourth behind a useful type at Navan last October. He’s been off nearly a year since that sole outing but, if he can build on that, he should go close. A lot depends on how much ability Kuwait Direction retains. If he could come anywhere close to his mid-division finish in last year’s Coventry Stakes, when beaten only four lengths by Arizona, he would win this but he didn’t match that form subsequently before being sold cheaply. Make A Promise just failed to make a winning debut at Naas in July but hasn’t progressed since then. Blue Umbrella ran fairly well at the Curragh on her second-last run and this is a more realistic level for her than when running behind Prix de l’Abbaye contender Make a Challenge last time.
