FormscanBy Mark Nunan - STELLAR SPIRIT is not well in at the weights but has shown good improvement on his last two starts and gets the vote. Michael Halford’s gelding stepped up on previous efforts when third at Gowran earlier this month and was slightly unlucky not to win a big-field handicap over a mile at the Curragh on Saturday after being checked in his run over a furlong out. The quick reappearance and being unproven on easy ground are other possible negatives but, nonetheless, the unexposed 3-year-old looks to have a good chance dropped into claiming company. Long-standing maiden Knight Of Malta went close at Listowel last week but his trainer probably has better prospects with Stately Home who was also runner-up at the Harvest Festival. The grey, who had previously shown ability on all-weather surfaces, chased home Mutasarref having been well-backed and is the one to beat on ratings. Flyin Hawaiian was slowly away when a staying-on fifth in a Fairyhouse handicap and should appreciate the extra furlong here.
