Knowing the breed and how genuine the horse is, making the running helps him. If you were going to the sales, you would pick him out as he is a model of a horse and is lovely. We’re very lucky to have him, Harry has four for me at the moment and we have some nice young horses coming along as well. People are always telling me you’ll never have another one like ‘Limestone’ but this fella is coming there and he will make some chaser. Plans are up in the air at the moment and these days are hard to come by so we’ll enjoy it. you couldn’t have written the script and it’s brilliant for Michael and John (Bowe). I’m just so delighted to have a horse like him and we think he’ll be a really good chaser next year. He won his maiden here when ridden the same way and wasn’t for passing that day either. Brian gave him a great ride today, he went a good honest gallop and his jumping was class. He was really good and aggressive on him. We’ll see how he is in the morning and make plans with him then. That level is perfect for him but you’d be hoping he might step up over fences and there is an old saying that a good-ish horse will go on any ground and he probably fits that bill. He has that touch of class so ground doesn’t really matter at times. Thanks to the two lads, they are supporting me really well. I’m delighted to win it.

You breed them and you rear them and bring them to this, I’m thrilled to bits. People kept saying you’ll never have another one like him (Limestone Lad), but this fella is coming near that, he’ll improve again and he’ll make some chaser. It doesn’t get any better than this. These days are hard to come by and when they do you want to enjoy them. You couldn’t have written the script. It’s brilliant for Michael and John (Bowe). He was very unlucky the last day but horse and rider were okay and that was the number one thing. The lads (Michael Bowe and brother John) had spotted this race. It was only nine days later but we said he was fresh and well so we’d take the chance and he did what he had to do today. He’s a good horse and he’ll be entered in all the good races now. That breed improves with age, the lads have been saying that from the start. We’re very happy with him and very happy to have him. Nearly every day he goes racing he gets best turned out, he’s that good-looking a horse. He’ll probably get an entry in the Hatton’s Grace and go from there. That’s what the lads are thinking. They’ve been there before, I haven’t.

Thankfully, Michael (Bowe, owner) always promised me if he couldn't train him, he would send him back to me. He did a fantastic job with him at home, himself and Brian Hayes. Michael just decided to claim off him today, just in case, but we didn't need it. I'm delighted, he is a smashing horse. I said to Michael quietly in the stable beforehand 'hopefully we will be here for the Grand National this time next year'. Michael and John and all the family are here today, and I'm delighted for them. To have a decent horse on a big day, sure it is fantastic.

He's a very nice horse, he's only five. He schooled last week over fences in Limerick junction and we were going to go for a beginners chase but the ground was nicer here, he wants soft ground. Two-and-a-half miles and the track, all the conditions were right for him. We love him, he's a horse for the future. He's from Sweet Kiln and Limestone Lad's family. We had great luck with them around this track years ago so it's great to be back here. We haven't had a winner in Navan for many years. We'll see what the handicapper does now. Fences is definitely his future and he jumped particularly well last week schooling.

we jumped on the Harry Kelly bandwagon! . He’s a seriously good trainer. he got a good ride and it’s been a great week. I said to Carl going out ‘don’t let it turn into a sprint’ and as the old cliché goes he’ll make a great chaser. He gallops away on loose reins and it’s just pure stamina. To look at him he has the model of a chaser.
