The Raceday Stewards received a request from Damien Byrne, Authorised Representative for Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer of Cottesloe Sunshine, to substitute the nominated rider D.E. Mullins, with J.J. Slevin. He further added that J.J. Slevin has commitments with owners Isaac Souede and Simon Munir and also with Joseph O'Brien which is public knowledge. He added that J.J. Slevin was due to ride one horse in the UK for Isaac Souede and Simon Munir, but that animal was a non runner owing to weather conditions. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards considered Regulation 3 and in particular section (3)(e). However, they were satisfied that in the circumstances, the request was a valid one so they allowed the request. The declared rider D.E. Mullins was consulted by the Raceday Stewards prior to the decision been made

C.M. Quirke, rider of Sunchart (GB), trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel. This was subsequently confirmed by the IHRB Veterinary Officer.
