Formscan  - Deemed good enough for the Grade 1 Turners Novices' Hurdle here last year, KEL HISTOIRE could have enough in hand off 137 to win this on his handicap debut. Runner-up in the Moscow Flyer last season, a race in which Willie Mullins has historically run his better novice hurdlers, the six-year-old is of real interest and this has probably been the plan all season. Another unexposed hurdler from the same yard is Roc Dino and he's a handicap debutant to note having finished behind Mighty Park at Fairyhouse and El Cairos at Thurles, both of whom ran in the Supreme on Tuesday. Of the others, keep a close eye on Air Of Entitlement, Jump Allen and East India Express.

We knew we had the stamina and obviously the New course suits. We always worry about being too handy in this race and Rachael got it spot-on. I thought they went a really good gallop and she gave her some spin. She stayed on really well. I thought when we winged the last we had a chance and I knew Keith (Donoghue, riding Sixandahalf) was up there the whole way, which historically hasn’t worked. she is a good mare to have and we bought her after winning her point-to-point for Colin Bowe and she came recommended by Barry O'Neill. Sean (O'Keeffe) said she was keen early-on and only gave herself a chance to settle between the last two hurdles. I loved the way she went to the line and hopefully she'll now go on to better things. We waited for better ground for her bumper and while I'm not saying she won't handle softer ground, Bowe said not to run on winter ground. It is his first run for five months and Darragh knows him very well having won a bumper and maiden hurdle on him. We couldn't look past him with his 7lb claim on that ground, which is worth its weight in gold. This horse was my first winner, he is still flying the flag and is a mighty horse. He isn't big, but is very well-bred and jumps hurdles very well. He pulled up in the Galway Hurdle when they went a million (speed) and we were behind and beaten after the first hurdle. He didn't really get a race though, but the thing about him is he can hit flat spots in his races. . He ran well when finishing fourth in the Red Mills Hurdle at Gowran last year and that is an option again. It is mighty for the five-member syndicate (Red Strand Syndicate) and there are a lot of happy people here, although two are at home with Covid, another is in Copenhagen and he couldn't make it. They are west Cork people and we had our initial syndicate meeting in the Red Strand (in Cork).

That was grand. He doesn't do anything flashy at home but he has a good attitude and you'd like the way he went there,. I'd imagine he'll come back here for the Dublin Racing Festival but to be honest I'd say he's more of a Fred Winter horse than a Grade 1 horse. He'll need another run to qualify so he'll probably end up coming back for that and that will tell us where to go. We have one or two nice ones at home to run. We're a bit short this year but have a nice horse that came from France, he could probably end up coming here for the Grade 1.
