Formscan By Michael Graham - LA FOGATA showed ability when keeping the winner of a Listed race in Naas honest. That was her first start since switching to Donnacha O'Brien and it came over a further trip. She has solid juvenile form over this sort of trip, though, and with the three-year-old allowance factored in, receives a stone from Sindria. Joseph O'Brien's Sindria holds the same rating of 100 as La Fogata and took the honours in a Listed fillies' race at Gowran Park. She was subsequently unplaced in a Group 2 at the Curragh, but has to rate a danger back in this company. Drop Dead Gorgeous (also rated 100) didn't fire in a Curragh Group 3, but is lightly-raced, well-related, and represents leading connections.

She’s a filly that I’ve had an awful lot of faith in all the way through. She won in Naas last year and people were saying ‘how was she that long off the track?’. I was minding her a lot as I always held her in very high regard. I’m only a young trainer and to come across a horse like this so early.. You see her in the race, she goes through the gears very easy. Ben Coen rides her all her work but unfortunately he was down in Cork today. Scott McCullagh rode her work last year as well. I always wanted to see more out of her at home, and I wasn’t seeing it. Ben put the faith in me the last day, he said he’d never ridden her to be flat out. He said he hadn’t ever got to the bottom of her in her work and said he thought she’d take an awful lot of getting to the bottom of. She was working with very decent horses but I had to see it in front of me to really believe it. She was even doing that easy today and parking up when she hit the front. Nothing ever happened to her or went against her last year. We took our time and got balloted out in a Listed race at Dundalk at the end of the season. She was out with a friend of mine Derek McCormack all winter and did well but when she came back in she got stomach ulcers. She wasn’t doing well and I couldn’t train her. She’s a lovely filly and hopefully that will start the weekend well for Juddmonte,. She’s a big powerful filly and I thought she’d run a very nice race, she’d been working well. We’ll see how she comes out of the race and speak with Barry (Mahon) and Prince Khalid’s family and then decide where we go. I’d say she’s most likely to move up to stakes level. She’s a lovely mannered filly and she’s progressive. I think a mile will be lovely for her with the way she finished out there. It was a lovely race to start her off in and we’ll step up to a mile now. There will be nice improvement in her going a mile.

she’s out of a Teofilo - the same as Nancee Spain I had who won in Roscommon, and they just seem to grow a leg on that ground. The two of them are kind of in the same boat, they were slow to learn but are improving all the time. Ben said Syzygy knows she’s a racehorse now, even going down to the start she was fairly switched on and actually raced a touch keen. He said if he had got a bit of cover it would have suited better. I can’t give out about her as she’s after winning three in a row. She’s on the improve but that might be her for the year. If it had been good ground it would probably have been a bad draw but on slower ground you see them coming home down the middle of the track to get the fresher bit of ground. That gave me a bit of confidence. In all fairness to the filly, she had to be good and game and she was. Ben was excellent on her as per usual.
