The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after the start involving Volantis, ridden by D.J. Gilligan, Putapoundinthejar, ridden by K.C. Sexton, Sequoiaspirit, ridden by M.J. Kenneally, Spy (GB), ridden by P
Byrnes, War Correspondent, ridden by J.C. Gainford, and Serienmond (GER), ridden by C. Stone-Walsh where it appeared several horses got tight on the rails. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D.J. Gilligan said he received pressure from both sides. K.C. Sexton said he got pressure and hit the rail. M.J. Kenneally said he got pressure from his right. P. Byrnes said he received a bump from his inner. J.C. Gainford said he wasn't involved in the incident. C. Stone-Walsh said he got pressure from his right. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action
Philip Byrnes, rider of Spy (GB), trained by C.Byrnes, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got tight for room at the first bend
The Raceday Stewards received a report from Ms. A. O'Keeffe, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that Eoin Staples, rider of Come On The Lads, weighed in at 1.1lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who said he had a drink after weighing out. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Rule 231 and having considered his clean record, they cautioned him on this occassion.
An extended handicap hurdle for five years old and upwards that have run at least four times in hurdle races up to and including 14th September 2025
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race or hurdle races after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper.
