The Raceday Stewards received a report from Ms. P. Hassett, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that Mr A. Coonan, rider of Movie King, presented to weigh out at 3lbs overweight of which 2lbs had been declared as a possible overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he done his best to get as close to the required weight. Evidence was also heard from the trainers representative who was happy for the rider to carry the overweight. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards allowed the overweight on this occasion and took no further action

Mr M.J. Kenneally, rider of Art Of Silence, trained by Gerard Keane, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly right throughout

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Gordon Elliott, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of The Mediator, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Gordan Elliott reported that his charge appreciated being held up over the longer trip and this in his opinion accounted for the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted its contents

Following the running of race two the IHRB Clerk of the Course changed the going to soft

An extended handicap for four years old and upwards (70 = 12st 2lbs)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
Riders - Confined to Qualified Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules who have not lost the right to claim the 7lb allowance under Rule 52. Allowances - (which are not cumulative, up to and including 7th September) Riders who have not ridden the winner of a *race allowed..........4lb; Those who have not ridden the winners of 5 *races allowed........2lb. No allowance to riders under Rule 52 may be claimed. *Including races under any N.H. Rules or Rules of Racing.
