J.M. Sheridan, rider of Church Mountain, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right for the last three furlongs

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Expound (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge had disappointed on its previous run when it was unable to get an easy lead and lost interest thereafter. He further added that a strong front running ride, from a very capable claiming rider had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation offered.
