Expound hangs on to claim another Ballinrobe win
It was anxious enough there and I thought we were nabbed to be honest. It generally favours the horse coming home. He actually won in similar circumstances here before when just hanging on in a maiden, when Joey (Sheridan) rode him. The claim was a massive help and he got to dictate on a tight track. I knew from a long way out that he was in pole position and he looked sweet. In fairness to the young lad he gave him a lovely ride and got the breathers. He did everything we asked him to the letter really. He’s good value for 10lb but he’s not going to get long out of the Flat. He can only claim off 9-7 so I’d say he’ll go jump racing next season. It’s great for this syndicate (Corner House Syndicate). They are enthusiastic, they are very lucky for me and very loyal to me. They are with me with moderate horses and no good ones and they’ve hit on this lad in the last few years. Every day he runs he gets a few quid, he’s a fun horse.
Carmers makes winning debut for Twomey and O'Connor
I got through the line well and took plenty of pulling up so I wouldn’t see why not. I’m delighted to get it for him. He’s a fantastic trainer and it’s great to sit on those quality horses, the two days a week I’m in there. I’m learning plenty as well. Billy (Lee) is a great man to be riding work with too. Hopefully we can keep it up, I hit the crossbar a couple of weeks ago and it was nice to get the winner.
Molly Hall makes all to land the finale at Ballinrobe
She’s fantastic. That’s her fourth win for me,. She’s so consistent. Having horses like that, even at that grade, if they are doing that you really want to have them. There is a two mile in the Curragh, 50 grand pot, and she might go for that. That’s probably made for her, she’s won over two miles before. She’s really settled and she’s a real little professional now. She’s won over a mile-and-three and she’s quick enough, hopefully it’s onwards and upwards with her now. We’ll see what the handicapper does now. She’s probably improving, she’s probably going places. You’d be starting to think of nice pots for her.
