Permission was given for Moon Angel (GB) to be mounted in the chute and for Lesrico (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Percy Jones (GB) unseated David Egan the way to the start.
Having been checked by the Doctor at the start, Egan was deemed fit to ride.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final 1/2 furlong, involving the dead heated winners, L’EAGLE AID (IRE) ridden by Archie Young and Percy Jones (GB), ridden by David Egan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved the placing of Percy Jones (GB) as at a time that L’EAGLE AID (IRE) was continually improving to the outside, Percy Jones (GB) drifted right-handed, moving the gelding off its intended line.
Whilst there appeared to be little momentum lost as a result of the interference, L’EAGLE AID (IRE) was moved a number of horse widths off its intended line, and the Stewards noted that whilst the interference was occurring, the gelding continued to close to force a dead-heat at the line.
Therefore, and on the balance of probabilities, the Stewards deemed that had L’EAGLE AID (IRE) experienced an uninterrupted run to the line, that it would have beaten Percy Jones (GB) and revised the placings as follows: First – L’EAGLE (IRE), Second – Percy Jones (GB), Third - Moon Angel (GB), Fourth – Run Of Luck (GB).
Egan was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his horse to drift right-handed without sufficient correction.
