Permission was given for Bob Mali (IRE) and Star Anthem (IRE) to both go early to post, wearing a red hood; and for PRINICIPALITY (IRE), Silver Ghost (IRE), and Yankee Dude (IRE) to all wear a red hood to post.

An enquiry was held into the start of this race and the participation of Best Rate (GB), drawn 7, ridden by Hollie Doyle, who had become fractious in the stalls as the start was effected, resulting in the gelding being slowly away.

The rider and the Starter were interviewed and shown recordings of the start.

The Stewards considered that Best Rate (GB) should be deemed a runner.

Rounding the first bend, Yankee Dude (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed, taking Star Anthem (IRE), unplaced, and Bob Mali (IRE), unplaced, off their intended lines, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Passing the 1 furlong marker, Cyclonite (USA), placed sixth, lugged right-handed, taking Miss Nightfall (GB), placed second, off its intended line, which resulted in Uncle Don (GB), unplaced, being slightly eased, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Cyclonite (USA).

Following the race, Richard Kingscote reported that Mr Chaplin (GB), unplaced, was denied a clear run on several occasions inside the final ½ furlong; Warren Fentiman reported that Rare Change (IRE), unplaced, was denied a clear run on a number of occasions inside the final furlong; and Nicola Currie reported that Tuco Salamanca (IRE), placed third, hung left-handed.
