Permission was given for Scarboroughwarning (GB) and Ocean Treaty (GB) to wear a red hood to post, for Miss Hathaway (GB) to go early to post, and for Beale Street (GB) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
Leaving the stalls, the winner Keep Warm (GB), jumped left-handed, heavily bumping YES I’M MALI, unplaced, causing it to in turn bump Loving Apprentice (GB), unplaced, which became unbalanced as a result, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved, and that it had not improved the placings of Keep Warm (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately ½ a furlong out, involving the winner, Valentine Catcher (GB), ridden by Sean Kirrane, and Keep Warm (GB), placed second, ridden by Joanna Mason.
In arriving at their decision, the Stewards considered the degree of interference suffered by Keep Warm (GB), the relative finishing efforts of both horses, and the rapidly diminishing margin of a nose at the finishing line, and determined that with an uninterrupted run to the line, Keep Warm (GB) would have finished ahead of Valentine Catcher (GB), and revised the placings as follows: First, Keep Warm (GB); Second, Valentine Catcher (GB); Third, City Captain (GB); Fourth, Havana Rum (IRE); Fifth, Miss Hathaway (GB).
Kirrane was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction, carrying Mason off her intended line for several strides.
Following the race, Sean Kirrane reported that Valentine Catcher (GB), placed second, hung right-handed for the final two furlongs.
Warren Fentiman reported that The Good Biscuit (GB), unplaced, was denied a clear run in the home straight.
Harrison Shaw reported that Beale Street (GB), unplaced, jumped awkwardly from the stalls and was slowly away as a result.
