Cork Fri, 26th Jul, 2024  Morning Vietnam We have liked him from day one but always knew he was a little highly strung. He didn't have a hard race the first day (at Dundalk) so you'd have been hoping he wouldn't form this apprehension before his races, but that is what has happened. He lost his races before the start twice so we had to geld him, which is not something I usually do (mid-season). I held in in such high regard that if we didn't geld him, we'd have no horse. The lads at home have done a great job with him, he had done plenty work from stalls and we look to have him back. In the spring I thought he was made for a Molecomb (Stakes) but the wheels came off that plan. He is very, very fast though and now that that plan has changed, we are in no rush as he is a big 16.1hh horse. He is a beautiful mover, loves fast ground and could potentially be a good horse if we mind his mind. We have a racehorse now.

Curragh Sun, 30th Jun, 2024  Amazon Lady Willie(McCreery) said 'when you get done to the start have a look up and if it makes sense to keep over on your own, do'. He said you would only be wasting your time trying to get over from (stall)1. When I started to pick up I had a little glance across and I knew I had them. She was drawn one and there was six metres of fresh ground for the Derby horses, so it would be fresh for the last three furlongs so I said to get over on to that. She doesn't mind racing on her own, she won in Navan the last day on her own. Billy has a good clock in his head and got her into a lovely rhythm. She broke from the gates and was gone, she didn't see anything. She's improving every race but unfortunately the breeder decided to put in her foal!. She's in foal to New Bay and might have one more run in the Sweet Mimosa (Naas July 24th) before going home.

Naas Wed, 26th Jun, 2024  Over The Blues Over The Blues did that pretty well and as Luke (McAteer, winning jockey) said it a matter of getting from A to B with her. She was green first time and while she is normally pretty good coming out of stalls, she was in there for a long time and missed the break a little bit. Luke had to get after her then to hold a position but that lit her up and then she maybe didn't see out the six fully from being keen. She gets six (furlongs) no problem but in saying that you could easily drop her back to five. They are a speedy family, four have won maidens for us but this is the only one which could go over five. They are all very different although this is very different to the rest of them as she's probably the strongest and being a sprinter, all she'll do is improve. It's a fair broodmare that Jim (Browne, owner/breeder) has. there is a conditions race in Tipperary next week but I'd say that might be a bit quick for her and there is a Listed race back here in a month's time over this trip so that would seem to be ideal for her. We don't mind stepping her up in class and that's probably an ideal option.

Navan Sat, 18th May, 2024  Amazon Lady She's probably three weeks in foal now to New Bay, so that helped her,. I've never seen her as relaxed, she looked fantastic and is thriving this year. She's a big mare and just took her time to come to hand. I just wanted to get a win into her to pay for her entries for the year. The Burns' have no interest in handicaps, they just want to get black-type for her. The handicapper dropped her a few pounds, so I said to try and get a handicap to pay for her entries because she might have to go to England. I think she loves that quicker ground, she skipped along and was in a lovely rhythm the whole way.
