Voce Del Palio
He's been a good horse and I thought his price was a bit disrespectful to him,. Declan gave him a lovely ride and he handled the drop back to six really well. He's a solid horse, he was just dropping in trip which we weren't sure about but he obviously handled it well. He was always going to get it well and was dropping back from group company. He's in at Tipperary on Friday but I'd say we'll probably go to the Curragh for the Sportsman race, the sales race. This is a huge pot and it's fantastic. The race is very well supported every year with such a big field and is always a very strong race. State Of Rest was fourth in it a couple of years ago. Everyone always runs the horses that are qualified. It's a fantastic race and credit to Ballyhane, the EBF and everyone who puts the money into it. I was sixth in it as well (with Montesilvano) and I'd say he's a stakes horse. There is no doubt the second is a stakes filly and you need a stakes horse to even be placed in it.

I think we've figured out how to ride her, she just needs to be ridden very cold,. It's great for the syndicate. She got held up as a two-year-old and only ran three times, they had a good long wait until she got out again. She's now twice a winner and was also second at the Curragh. I think we'll have a bit of fun in Galway at the end of the month. That's been the plan since early in the season and to win twice along the way is the icing on the cake.

She’s a lovely filly, but she’s not just a two-year-old. She’ll go to the Queen Mary. I think she probably didn’t learn much the second day (in Cork), so I’m glad she had the run here because she’s learned a good bit today. I think she will come on for it. It’s 16 days to the Queen Mary but we’ll be fine, I think. It’s exciting to have a filly like that. She has a lot of natural ability. She’s a big unit and she’s got plenty of gears. She hit the front plenty soon enough today and had a look but again I liked what I saw where she went around the bend, and he couldn’t pull her up. It’s a great bunch of people involved (owners MRC International). She’s the first runner, so hopefully there’s a few more nice horses in it. We set up the syndicate this year and bought 19 two-year-olds. It’s a two-year project, so it’s great to have one ready to go to Ascot, and hopefully there’s more to go to other places.

the syndicate is a concept we came up with last year - we have 40 members from Australia, America, Luxembourg, Ireland and England and Dubai and have 19 two year olds. We've already had a holiday in Dubai, we are trying to make it fun with more involvement and it is a two year project. I have been quiet for the last few years — we had a tendency to buy horses and hold on to them for a long time and not replace but what we are trying to do now is buy lots of horses and go back to the sales next year and buy the same, if not more, next year. We can train but we need horses, it is as simple as that.

Sacred Bridge
She is very honest and Colin said she got lonely and would have loved a lead. He had to do it all on his own and and there was more speed on the far side as it turned out. The ground walks good but rode very slow for her. We'll go home and digest everything - she is in all the big races, the Group 2 Sandy Lane at Haydock and the Commonwealth (at Royal Ascot) but we'll talk to Barry (Mahon, racing manager) and the team. She'll improve in a better class of race when she'll get plenty of pace. She'll still have to improve on that running but it was nice to win a race like today's.

She had a good run at Cork and then had a bit of a setback so she was kept for this year. She hasn’t done an awful lot at home. We thought she had the ability to get through this type of race. Everything fell into place and Gary (Carroll) gave her a great ride. We’ll see what the handicapper does and plot a course from there.

That's great and it's very nice to do it on the Curragh, to get that box ticked,. The owners are from all over, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Cork. It's a syndicate that we had in England, that Jodi and I ran in England. When we knew we were coming home we started to get some home interest. She was in training here last year and she moved to us for this campaign. It was always something that we wanted to do, was to train in Ireland. I spent the last six years in England, the latter part with Roger Varian. The opportunity to move into Currabeg came up and we took it with both hands. We don't have a whole pile of older horses, it would be dominated by two-year-olds so we are looking forward to the summer. We've been blown away by the support that has come. We've got a very high quality of two-year-old so hopefully we can compete here in Ireland. John (Oxx) is incredible and he was the first man to congratulate me. His advice is incredible and to have him looking over your shoulder is a huge plus. We've got a couple of nice two-year-olds so we'll try and get them to win and see what they can do. I'm 29 and we've got 23 in training at the minute, with a couple more to come in. We bought one or two older horses to try and get the box ticked, knowing that we were going to be very reliant on two-year-olds.
