Formscan By John O'Riordan - Placed on all three previous starts over flights, SPECULATEUR can make the breakthrough. A former point-to-point winner, the Gordon Elliott-trained five-year-old came with a decent reputation and, was sent off favourite on his first two runs over hurdles. Having shaped with promise once again at Clonmel last time, he can finally open his account. Bumper runner-up Royal Gladiator made a nice start to his jumping career when fourth in a big field at Leopardstown over Christmas. He is entitled to have improved for that experience. Winner of his only point-to-point, the long absent Captains Speech is one that should be monitored in the betting on his Rules debut.
