Aerlite a tonic for Fitzgerald

Sun 1st Mar 2009, 16:21

Trainer Davy Fitzgerald enjoyed a welcome turn when his Aerlite Rooler landed the Comeragh Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel today.

Ridden by Martin Ferris, the gelding raced prominently before moving through to lead in the straight, eventually staying on well for a three lengths win over Vast Consumption

Fitzgerald suffered an injury riding out recently which put him out of action for some time and, to add insult to his injury, his stable star Mister Top Notch suffered also suffering an injury which will put him out of action for some time.

Fitzgerald was in Leopardstown but Ferris did report "I was talking to Davy beforehand and he said Aerlite Rooler might prefer better ground."

He added "we may have hit the front a little soon but he battled well and will go a bit further on better ground." The win was Ferris' 47th career winner.
