Soon in the firing line Chronicles went three places better than his debut fourth from 19 days back. The Godolphin chestnut proved to be the pick of the bunch in the Kilberry (C & G) Maiden at Navan this evening.

This was another good result for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning over the couple of days at Proudstown Park. They were on the mark with Vociferous Marina in the Listed Salsabil Stakes yesterday, as well as with Pirolo in the concluding handicap.

Chronicles toughed it out well inside the final two and he did enough to prevail by a neck and the same from Night Of Glory and Act Of Valour

Stable representative Ger Flynn said: "Kevin was very happy with him. He battled well and handled the quick ground. Hopefully there's another bit of improvement in him. When they came to him he went away again. Hopefully it's onwards and upwards. That looked a good maiden on paper.

"I'd say he is a mile and a half horse. He's learning a lot and is still green. The Leopardstown maiden he ran in could be a good one."

W.M. Lordan, rider of Silk King trained by Andrew McNamara, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung to the right during this race.
