Bootlegger finally makes breakthrough

Fri 14th May 2010, 18:43

Bootlegger on his fourteenth attempt over timber, got off the mark with an always on the gallop success under Davy Russell in the Scarragh Maiden Hurdle.

Owned and bred by Cork man, Pat O'Donovan, his colours being that of Cork Constitution rugby club, Russell's mount eventually ran out a six length winner from Persian Gayle

The son of Pistolet Bleu was showing his versatility ground wise as his only previous success was in a Naas bumper on heavy ground back in February 2007.

Tom Mullins, the winning trainer wasn't present but of course his father, Paddy famously landed the 2003 Irish Oaks with Vintage Tipple, who sported the same silks.
