Campanile causes Tipp surprise
David Kiely's Campanile caused a 40/1 surprise (102/1 on the Tote) in winning the Kedrah House Stud 'Well Chosen' Handicap Hurdle at Tipperary today.
Ridden by Denis Hogan, carrying 1lb overweight at 9st10lbs, the daughter of Zilzal arrived in the last strides to win a neck and head from Tiamo and Wright Flyer who was clear at the final flight before tiring on the run-in.
Afterwards Kiely reported "Denis (Hogan) gave her a great ride and she jumped well for him. She had a bad fall which hurt he back a while ago but she's right again now. She'll mix it between Flat and hurdling now."
