Carlesimo Does It Again
In the words of commentator, Jerry Hannon, Carlesimo rolled back the years again in front of a Wexford audience, as a fortnight after winning a similar event at Bettyville, the ten-year-old registered victory number twelve of his career when battling to a two and a half length success in the Blackstairs Claiming Race.
The runner-up, Buckthorn was reported to be lame post race, but Carlesimo, the 4/9 favourite, still had to display plenty of courage to get the job done under Fran Berry.
Two weeks back the Erins Isle gelding was in with a claiming price of 17,000 Euro and it was only on a technicality that day that he didn't find a new home. On this occasion he was in for 25,000 Euro. There were no claims. For Fran Berry this was a fiftieth winner of the campaign.
