Chosen best of trio
The old saying about always backing the outsider of three rang true in the conditions race at Sligo as Few Are Chosen proved best.
Tracey Collins' charge was sent off the 11/2 outsider of the trio but stormed clear down the straight to land the spoils.
The filly had disputed early with Mount Helicon before chasing that rival as 8/15 favourite Waydownsouth sat in behind.
Michael Hussey sent his mount to the lead again with over two furlongs to run and she always had too much in hand for Waydownsouth.
The favourite never looked likely to peg her back as he tried to throw down a challenge turning for home and Few Are Chosen drew clear in the final furlong to score by nine lengths.
It was a second course and distance success for the winner who had also landed a handicap here last August.
"We're very pleased with that. She loves this place and handled the soft ground well," said Collins.
"She was disappointing the last day but had beaten these two at the Curragh on her previous run.
"On her day she's a very good filly. She's in foal to Dark Angel but we still have time to race her and we'll step her up to a Listed race probably."
