Constant Comment (8/1) swooped late under Kevin Manning to get her head in front in the seven furlong fillies' maiden at Naas.

The Fastnet Rock filly was fully ninth approaching the final furlong but motored between horses to cut down Betty Loch in the final strides.

Betty Loch had looked to be the winner when she hit the front in the final furlong but had to settle for second, beaten a neck at 14/1.

Another 14/1 shot, Jet Streaming was half a length away in third.

Trainer Jim Bolger said: "It was a little bit on the short side but we took a chance and it paid off. She gets a mile and we'll see if she gets further. We'll see what the handicapper says."

This was Constant Comment's third racecourse appearance after finishing fourth in a pair of Leopardstown maidens over a mile and a mile and a quarter.
