Cool Athlete times it well
Cool Athlete was produced with a well-timed run along the rail by Shane Foley to collar Xsquared and Cinnin Oir and land a gamble in the one mile handicap at Dundalk.
The David Marnane trained five-year-old, representing the Equine Friends Syndicate, was backed from an opening show of 15/2 down to 4/1 and the gamble was landed by half a length by the former 19-race maiden.
Successful jockey Foley said: “They went a right good gallop and it made it easier to get through then.
“He stuck his head out and stuck at it well.”
Eamonn Casey, one of the five-strong winning syndicate from counties Dublin and Meath, said: “He’s going to make a very nice hurdler and he will go hurdling soon.
“We bought him off David Marnane himself.”
