George Webb saddled his first winner in nearly two years as Daigreen took the Lough Carra Handicap Hurdle in convincing fashion at Ballinrobe.

Webb, who trains in Shinrone near Birr, recorded his previous success with Underdefloorboards in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse in October 2012 and that in turn bridged a gap of 22 years back to a winner at Ludlow.

The five-year-old showed promise when a staying on third over nine furlongs at Gowran Park on Sunday, and switched back here to jumping with great effect.

Jody McGarvery’s mount quickened up nicely entering the short straight, and the 7/1 chance had nearly two lengths to spare over Lindas Choice at the line.

33/1 outsider Kilcaragh Boy stayed on into third.

The dual-purpose winner could be termed something of a course specialist as he gained both of his previous wins on the flat for Joanna Morgan here two years ago.
