Elusive Express opened her account at the 20th attempt when taking the seven furlong Reiss Handicap under Chris Hayes.
The Harry Rogers-trained filly was under pressure to lead well over a furlong out but the 8/1 chance kept on really well for Hayes to beat Chillie Billie (16/1) by two lengths, with Refuse Colette (8/1) in third.
Rogers said, “She had to pop up someday and Chris was very good on her. He had a bad draw but used his head to come down the outside.
“She’ll go to Dundalk for a mile race, and has been unlucky in a few maidens.” Havelock Ellis supported from 16/1 into 10’s this morning, was being driven along from an early stage but stayed on well in the final furlong to take sixth. He’s possibly one for the notebook over a bit further.
