Family Success for Faheys with Shaantina

Tue 21st Jul 2009, 21:05

Eight non-runners from the last left a field of ten to go to post and Lee Lynch looked like she'd done enough aboard Art Modern when that one, which got in as a reserve, went clear from two out.

However the Giant's Causeway gelding ran out of petrol from before the last as Mark Fahey beared down aboard Shaantina

The successful Dilshaan mare went by on the run-in before registering a two and a half length win. Five pound claiming amateur Fahey is a nephew of the winning trainer, Jarlath. The owner, Maureen is Jarlath's mother. Of course the Fahey clan hail from Monasterevin in Co. Kildare.
