Newcomer Quaresome trained by Kieran Purcell, was a 28/1 winner of the season finale at Roscommon when landing the bumper.

The hooded son of Parish Hall got up close home to give Patrick Cody a first winner to beat Locorotondo and Liberty Fame by three parts of a length and half a length.

The winner was led up by the young rider's father, Pat. The 17-year-old is a nephew of Dunamaggin trainer Ray Cody.

The winning rider said: “That’s my seventh ride and it’s great to get a winner.

“He can be keen at home but he travelled lovely the whole way around. He gave me a great spin and he kept going all the way up the straight.

“I’m finished school and ride out for Joseph O’Brien and also with Kieran a few days a week as well.”
