Girl Gets Job Done

Fri 17th Oct 2008, 15:06

Odds-on backers suffered a reverse in the opener with Maurice Utrillo and they were made sweat when A Girl took the following juvenile fillies maiden.

The 2/5 chance made virtually all, but she had to battle hard to eventually see off Lady Excel by one and three parts of a length. Frosted Grape came home well for third, a further short head back.

Jimmy 'Slim' O'Neill, representing winning trainer, John Oxx, said: "She did a good enough job, and even though she is by Sadler's Wells, she was finding that a bit too heavy. She is a nice prospect for middle distances next year. After a couple of quick runs that will be it for this year."

The Michael Kinane ridden winner is out of Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine, Preseli.
