Tue 21st Apr 2009, 19:27

The six runner Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race at Limerick today appeared a tricky contest on paper and 10/1 outsider Count John proved the narrow winner, providing jockey Chris Hayes with a double.

Hayes, earlier successful on Chibcha was seen at his strongest on the Jim Gorman trained gelding, taking the son of Intikhab to the front inside the final furlong before holding the challenge of Lastkingofscotland by a short head.

Gorman was not present for what was his second winner of the new season.
