Chris Hayes edged clear in Dundalk's 2021 Crowne Plaza Leading Riders Championship with a double today, completing the feat on the Eddie Lynam trained top-weight Marsa in the BetVictor Loyalty Club Nursery.
The daughter of Lynam's Royal Ascot winner Slade Power, was produced to lead with a furlong to race and stayed on to beat Princess Rajj by three parts of a length.
Lynam later commented “she had a couple of ok runs up here and I’m delighted to get the win with her.
“I’m delighted to have a winner for the Rogers who own her in partnership with the Powers, who have been great supporters of mine. Joe Rogers and his family foal all our mares and look after horses. It’s the first horse I’ve had for him so I’m delighted.
“I thought she could win one at two and she might come back here once more before Christmas.”
Jockey Hayes was riding his 27th winner this year at the Co Louth venue, and his 75th in total, and is two clear of Colin Keane in the Dundalk Championship.
