Sir Loujay appreciated the drying ground conditions when routing his 14 rivals in the Fegentri World Championship (QR) Handicap Hurdle.

A third winner inside the last week for Wexford trainer Liz Doyle, the six-year-old gelding took it up entering the straight and proceeded to draw clear to score at 8/1.

Mark Byrne’s mount flattened the final two hurdles but it made no difference as he galloped away for a nine lengths verdict over Volkis O’Blue (6/1), with Chasers Chance (11/2) in third.

Doyle said, “He’s always worked well but just needed time and is coming to himself now. He ran poorly on heavy ground at Navan the last day but he needs this good ground.”
