Lillie Langtry wins Debutante Stakes

Thu 6th Aug 2009, 19:35

Aidan O’Brien and Johnny Murtagh recorded a double this evening after they landed the feature race on this evenings card, The Debutante Group 2 Stakes when Lillie Langtry ran out 1 3/4 length win.

Winning trainer O’Brien said afterwards, “She’s a lovely filly and we gave her a break after Ascot. Johnny gave her a very confident ride and the Debutante Stakes is a nice race to win.”

“She has a great turn of foot and she can change gears very quickly. She will go for the Moyglare Stud Stakes next and she should stay a mile.”

O’Brien also said of Devoted To You (who finished 2nd): “The race came a bit quickly after Galway but she ran a great race and I’m very pleased with her.”

William Hill have quoted Lillie Langtry at 7/1 favourite for the Stan James 1000 Guineas.
