Magical double for Townend
Jockey Paul Townend moved onto the 41 winner mark for the season, having completed a double at Fairyhouse today on the Tom Foley trained Might Be Magic in the Ashbourne Handicap Hurdle.
Townend currently trails Jockeys Championship Leader Andrew McNamara by eight winners.
After Might Be Magic’s win, Foley stated “I couldn’t understand why he ran so badly at Gowran the last day – he didn’t jump well enough for some reason.”
He added “he is a Flat horse who has taken a long time to fill into himself and is only starting to come to himself now. Today was the plan with him and the boys had a few quid on too!”
