Owner J.P. McManus completed a quick double at Cork today as his Fit To Be Tied landed the WhatOddsPaddy Handicap Hurdle for trainer/jockey, father/son combination of Niall Madden senior and junior.
The son of Oscar won his only previous race at Limerick in March 2017 and today ended a nine race losing spell when returning the strongly supported 7/2 second favourite (from 7/1) and beating Shantelle by a length and three parts.
Winning trainer Niall Madden senior later said “that was great. I thought he'd go close after a nice run the last day. He can't jump fences properly unfortunately. He got a good ride.”
McManus' The Gatechecker had won the half-hour earlier Cork National for trainer Michael Hourigan and jockey Darragh O'Keeffe.
