The concluding Mardyke Bumper at Cork this evening went to impressive newcomer Lughnasa which landed a gamble (12/1 – 7/1) for trainer Robert Tyner.
Ridden by Colin Motherway, the daughter of Westerner quickened well in the closing stages before staying on well for a two and a quarter lengths win over 13/8 favourite Director's Forum
Afterwards Tyner said “her owner, Salome Brennan, is also the breeder of Whatwillwecallher and Lughnasa will now go for the mares' bumper at Punchestown which Whatwillwecallher won last year for us.”
