Novis Adventus made it a treble on the card for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning (earlier won with Round Two and Pleascach as he took the Kill Maiden.

The son of New Approach disappointed at Sligo on his last start when sent off the odds-on favourite but he bounced back here to get off the mark on his sixth career start.

Sent off the third choice of punters at 5/1 the Jackie Bolger owned colt made virtually all.

He was strongly pressed and joined by Sight Hound from two furlongs out but he battled on gamely under pressure, stretching clear inside the final furlong to score by three lengths.

Sight Hound (4/1) had to settle for second under Pat Smullen for Dermot Weld while Newberry New was a further five lengths back in third under Declan McDonogh for Jessica Harrington at 14/1. Los Barbados was sent off the even money favourite but he could only manage a disappointing sixth under Joseph O'Brien for his father Aidan.

Jim Bolger said afterwards: "The ground didn't suit last time. He stays well and is a lovely jumping prospect. In time he could probably go to be a 100 horse but that will probably be his job or else a staying horse for Australia." Royal Ascot Trip was withdrawn at the start for refusing to load.

STEWARDS REPORTS

The Stewards informed D. K. Weld, trainer that Royal Ascot Trip (CAN), would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Los Barbados, trained by A.P.O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
