Double-Guineas-winner Hermosa won the Colm Quinn BMW Irish EBF Fillies Maiden in Galway last year and Aidan O'Brien looks to have another smart sort on his hands as Petite Mustique dominated from the front.

The Galileo filly broke well and Donnacha O'Brien dictated the fractions throughout. She was ridden to go and win her race in the final furlong, and strode away to win by a comfortable two and three quarter lengths at 3/1. Chasing The Dawn ran a cracker on debut to come in second at 8/1 and she was half a length ahead of another useful-looking-newcomer Mythic at 11/1.

Donnacha O'Brien said: "I was very impressed with her. Things went really smoothly but I loved the way she picked up in the last two furlongs. I'd say she is very smart.

"She had the experience of the two previous runs and I was impressed by the way she picked up.

"She broke smart, travels very well and I like her a lot. She is not slow.

"She gave me a real good feel. I'm sure we will step her into Group or Listed company and find out more."
